The function of a split-type AC room sensor.
The room sensor in a split-type air conditioner is a temperature sensor located in the indoor unit. Its main job is to measure the temperature of the room air and send this information to the AC control board.
Functions of the room sensor
- Measures room temperature continuously.
- Maintains the set temperature selected on the remote control.
- Controls the compressor operation by telling the outdoor unit when cooling is needed.
- Controls indoor fan speed in many models.
- Saves electricity by stopping or reducing cooling when the room reaches the desired temperature.
- Improves comfort by keeping the room temperature stable.
- Works with inverter control to adjust compressor speed smoothly in inverter ACs.
How it works
- You set the AC to 24°C.
- The room sensor detects the actual room temperature.
- If the room is warmer than 24°C, the AC increases cooling.
- When the room reaches 24°C, the AC reduces or stops cooling.
- If the temperature rises again, cooling restarts automatically.
Signs of a faulty room sensor
- Room becomes too cold or not cold enough.
- AC turns on and off frequently.
- Temperature shown on the display is inaccurate.
- Indoor fan behaves abnormally.
- AC may display a sensor error code.
In simple words
Think of the room sensor as the AC’s thermometer. It checks the room temperature all the time and tells the air conditioner how much cooling is required to keep the room comfortable and save energy.
