Inverter AC service SOPs
In Islamabad inverter AC service Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requires meticulous steps to protect the delicate Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and compressor. Always begin by isolating the power, safely dismantling and deep-cleaning the indoor/outdoor units, and verifying refrigerant levels to ensure peak operational efficiency.
1. Pre-Service & Safety Checks
- Power Isolation: Turn off the circuit breaker/MCB at the main board before touching any unit to prevent electrical shock.
- Safety Gear: Wear appropriate safety equipment, including safety goggles, gloves, and protective shoes.
- Unit Inspection: Check for any abnormal noises, fan motor issues, or physical wear before taking the AC apart.
- Mode Run-Down: Run the unit in fan mode for 15-20 minutes to dry out internal moisture.
2. Indoor Unit (IDU) Servicing
- Filter Removal: Open the front panel, gently unclip, and remove the air filters and bacteria filters. Wash them under running water with mild soap and leave them to air dry completely.
- PCB Protection: Wrap and seal the indoor PCB and electronic display connections tightly using a waterproof plastic cover to prevent water damage.
- Cover Installation: Install an AC service cleaning bag/cover around the indoor unit to catch runoff water and prevent wall or furniture damage.
- Coil Cleaning: Spray a specialized foaming coil cleaner on the evaporator coils, let it sit, then jet-wash downwards using pressurized water.
- Blower & Drain Check: Clean the blower wheel carefully without forcing it to spin excessively. Flush the drain pipe/tray with water to prevent future water leakage or clogs.
3. Outdoor Unit (ODU) Servicing
- Debris Clearance: Remove any leaves, dirt, or debris from the rear and sides of the condenser unit.
- Coil Flushing: Wash the condenser coils with a pressure washer or jet pump from the inside out, taking care not to bend the aluminum fins.
- Fan & Mount Check: Verify that the fan motor is running without undue vibration, and ensure anti-vibration mountings are in good condition.
4. Inverter-Specific System Checks
- Refrigerant Check: Connect a digital manifold gauge to check the standing and running pressures. Because inverter ACs use variable speeds and exact gas blends (like R32 or R410a), ensure top-ups match the exact refrigerant type and weight specified on the unit’s rating plate.
- Electrical Tightness: Open the outdoor terminal box and check that all power cables and electrical connections are secure.
- Ampere Check: Use a clamp meter to measure the compressor’s running current and voltage to ensure it operates within the manufacturer’s specified limits.
5. Reassembly & Testing
- Drying: Allow all parts (filters, panels, coils) to dry thoroughly before powering the system back on.
- Assembly: Reattach the louvers, filters, and front cover, ensuring all snap-locks and screws are firmly secured.
- System Test: Restore power at the MCB. Turn the AC on to maximum cooling and let it run for 15 minutes to stabilize the inverter’s variable frequency drive and verify proper airflow.
