Haier Top-Load Washing Machine: No Water Inlet Troubleshooting
Your symptoms are:
- The display works normally.
- No water enters the tub.
- There is no sound from the inlet valve.
Most likely causes: a faulty inlet valve, a broken wire or connector, a lid/interlock or water-level sensing issue, or a failed PCB output circuit. A working display does not prove that every part of the PCB is working.
Step 1: Check these items in order

1. Check the water inlet valve
Unplug the machine and close the water tap. Inspect the valve connector for loose terminals, corrosion, or damaged wiring. Check the inlet filter for blockage.
If the filter is clear and the valve is silent, continue to the electrical checks below.

2. Check the lid switch or lock
Close the lid properly and select a normal wash cycle. Check for a lid-lock indicator or error code if your model has one.
A lid or interlock fault can prevent the machine from proceeding, depending on its design.

3. Check the water-level sensing system
With power disconnected, inspect the sensor connector and pressure hose for loose connections, kinks, or damage. Some models use a pressure switch; others use an electronic sensor.
A sensor incorrectly reporting that the tub is full may prevent filling.

4. Inspect the PCB and wiring
With the machine unplugged, inspect the inlet-valve wiring from the valve to its PCB connector. Look for burnt tracks, damaged connectors, or corrosion.
Do not replace the PCB until the valve, wiring and relevant sensor inputs have been checked.
Step 2: Determine whether the PCB is sending the valve command
A qualified appliance technician can check the valve circuit during a fill command using the exact model’s service documentation.
| Test result | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| Correct rated voltage reaches the valve, but it remains silent | Defective valve coil or poor terminal contact |
| No voltage reaches the valve | Possible wiring fault, missing control condition, or PCB output failure |
| Valve coil is open circuit | Likely defective valve coil |
| Valve and wiring test correctly | Investigate lid status, water-level input, other interlocks, and PCB control |
Do not assume the expected voltage, resistance, connector position, or wire color without the model-specific documentation. Avoid live-voltage measurements unless qualified to work safely around mains electricity.
Step 3: Tell me two things
These will help narrow down the next test without guessing PCB pinouts.
1. What happens after pressing Start?
Timer starts or cycle runs, but the valve stays silent
Machine beeps or displays an error
Machine does not start the cycle
Machine immediately proceeds to another stage
2. What is the Haier model number?
